Well i taught my friends son the other day how to do it, and i’m not sure if he got it, but its a step in the right direction for him. Ive played guitar for about 2 and half years, and i have to say im not that great. I just recently received an ear to hear the sounds, before it was all math and memorization. Kinda a big eye opener, kinda like jumping your first hurdle in a track race. Anyways the idea of tuning your guitar is to match the strings note with a string thats already in tune. There in lies the rub, aye the obstacle. How do you tune a guitar thats all out of tune? Well you either have the sound one of the strings needs to make embedded into your head, which after a while you’ll be able to do (i cant), or you can go buy a tuner. There only like 10 bucks. Another way is if you have a piano you can match the string to a note on the piano.

Ok for this to work you need to know the standard tuning for a guitar is EADGBe thats from fattest string to thinnest string. The acronym that i learned to make this easy is every-adult-dog-growls-bites-eats. Memorize that it will be important FOREVER.

Ok OK nuff ranting. Ok here is the nitty gritty. (and this is hoping your E string is in tune) Your E string is the fattest string on your guitar. Now what you want to do is put your finger on fret 5 and hit the string. This causes the string to Ring A, which happens to be the next strings standard tuning. So what you do is hit both those strings and turn the Knob for that string until it sounds just like the string your fretting. Now repeat this except move up a string. Fret the A string on the 5th fret and match that string the the D string. Again repeat this for the next set, Fret the D string on fifth and match it to the G string. IMPORTANT the next string is different, Fret the G string on 4th and match the B string to it. Thats important cause if you dont match it right, your guitar will sound like crap. No for the final string again fret the 5th on the B string and match the e string to it.

Ok now to my little trick, as im doing this i always knock the next string a little down outa tune that way i only have one way to go with it when listening. At that point i know that im suppose to tighten, and i can pretty much hear when i go to far. I bet thats a bad way to learn, i dont know but it works for me.

Well i did. I was about 5 miles from the epicenter on the fourth floor of a building. Here is a link to the geological survey for the quake. Apparently it was a 5.4. For about 15 seconds my head was up in ahh, and totally spaced out. Then i realized that was probably really stupid and i crawled under my desk like a hamster. Pretty crazy, even afterwards the building was still rolling around like a teter toter. So now we get to the photos im posting, basically my there is a place at my company where some of us park because its out of the way (so when we come in late no one will know). Well my friend parked there today, and the freakin light pole crashed down onto his car. I wonder how it works for insurance, is there a natural disaster, or is he screwed?

I was checking it out after I read an article online that said it was live, and i have to say i like it a lot. The interface is pretty cool, it seems more easier on the eyes, and you don’t get inodated with a huge amount of search results. My last boss was big on search engines and finding the news and all that, and i remember him telling me cuil was gonna be big way back months ago when they first released a press release. We’ll see if hes right or not. My only cork to the entire engine is that my name comes in on the second page that sucks.

I gotta say it was worth the couple hours of frustration to get it working. I had trouble tho getting a couple games to work. Most notably i wanted to play Lufia 2, alas i couldnt . Oh well. I ended up putting final fantasy 3 and 4 and zelda on it for now. You might be wondering why? well its something to do while goin to the bathroom…… Also the phone i did this on is a Motorola Q. Anyways this is how i did it.

Step 1: Install tgetfile.dll. Do to that go here. This allows you to execute stuff outside your my documents folder on your phone(or something like that). I downloaded the tgfdllsp50e.zip. If you scroll down a little its down there under a smartphone row. Basically to install this, sync your phone with ur pc and run the setup.exe from your pc. During the installation look at your phone, it might ask if ur sure you want to install the file. Respond with yes or ok.

Step 2: I went to this thread and downloaded PocketSNES153.rar. You can try the other one, but i couldn’t get it working. Your gonna have to make an account to download, but no worries it doesnt cost money. If the thread ever goes down ill post the emulator here. (i just dont want to piss the creator off by doing that).
Update: To get the regular nintendo emulator, use this one thread.

Step 3: This is I what did, but u can do what you want. I used the explorer from pc to browse through my phone and went to “Program Files” then created a folder called “SNES”. Then i copied the PocketSNES.exe in there.

Step 4: Download some roms. I would use the romnation if at all possible. The other when you download a rom gives u a ton of versions, so if you do just pick one of the roms from each download. It’ll make more sense if you try it. Also i only couldn’t get one game to work, so dont get discourage if a rom fails just try another one.
http://www.romnation.net/srv/roms/snes.html
http://www.shadyroms.com/index.php?letter=L&platform=SuperNintendo

Step 5: Play the game. On you phone go to “File Manager” then search through to “Program Files/SNES” then click the “PocketSNES.exe” then click “File/Open rom”.

NOTE 1: Heres the catch. I noticed that if I only have one rom in that folder I couldn’t scroll down to select it. So download at least 2 games. The other thing I noticed is that when you go to load a game if there arent more then one save state again u can’t scroll down to select. That last bit is actually what tripped me up the most.

NOTE 2: Your gonna need to go in and map ur keys before you play.

NOTE 3: I had to turn off Transparency effect. Not sure why but somethings where showing up black on the sreen, and when I turned this off, it fixed it.

NOTE 4:* I had to turn on Auto Frame Skip. Otherwise the game runs so rediculously fast you cant play.

Enjoy
